Manipur University Protest - A Dead End?

According to the college students and organizations, it was said that an attempt was made to shut down the ongoing protest of removing the Vice Chancellor at Manipur University, including other demands by setting up a fire in the office of the Assistant Director, Sports Department, on Saturday night. While the investigation is still going on to figure out how the fire occurred, it was found out that no one was injured in the incident. However, the stocks of documents have been burned.

According to M. Dayaman, President, Manipur University Students Union (MUSA), the office linked to the indoor university was deliberately set on fire to stop the democratic and legitimate agitations taken up by the teachers Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) and students of the university.

Recent updates say that during a meeting held between MUTA and MUSA, it was reported that empty petrol bottles were found near the university’s guest house and the stadium. Now, we have to watch what happens further regarding the students’ semester results, as only 3 days were given by them to the state government as an ultimatum.
