Maratha Kranti Morcha Will Start their Protest "The Jail Bharo Andolan" at Azad Maidan in Mumbai

Guwahati: Maratha outfit is demanding a decision on Maratha quota. The Marathas have been demanding 16 percent quota in education and employment. The agitators will start their protest “The Jail Bharo Andolan” from August 1, 2018 at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai and they will continue their protest till August 9. After the completion of this phase, they will start stubborn protests.

In Maharashtra, OBC has 19 percent reservation and SC and ST have 13 percent and 7 percent, respectively. The Nomadic Tribe (C) has 3.5 percent, Nomadic Tribe (D) has 2 percent and Special Backward Class has 2 percent reservation. These reservations make up to 52 percent reservations in jobs and 50 percent in education.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha outfit is demanding to take back all cases against Maratha protesters, action against the officers responsible for firing and lathi charge during a July 25 protest. They have insisted on the resignation of ministers and MLA’s who gave negligent statements against the Maratha community.

The Morcha has also demanded loan waiver and justice to the Kopardi rape case. They want to solve unemployment in their community and recompenses for the injured and the family members of those who died during the protests. It may be mentioned that the number of suicides in the Maratha quota agitation rose to six on Tuesday when a laborer and a student ended their lives. A 35-year-old farm laborer Abhijeet Deshmukh, from Beed district in Marathwada region hanged himself in a tree near his house on Tuesday. Abhijeet Deshmukh mentioned in his suicide note that he is taking this step in support of Maratha reservation.

The other suicide was of a meritorious student who scored 75 percent marks in the 10^th standard, but to secure admission in a junior college and a technical training institute in absence of any Maratha quota in these institutions.

Speaking about the protest Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that the government is working towards finding a permanent resolution to combat the crisis.
