Gohpur, June 11: A massive protest rally was taken out on Monday in Gohpur under the patronage of AJYCP Biswanath district committee where AASU, ATTSA, MASS, ABSU, TMPK and various non-political organizations joined hands to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Social and political analyst Adip Phukan along with distinguished leaders of various organizations and public took part in the protest rally. An open session was held in front of office of the SDO Civil Gohpur and eminent personalities gave speeches against the bill. Eighteen organizations of Biswanath district took part in AJYCP’s massive protest rally.
GOLAGHAT: The members of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Mahila Parishad, Golaghat district committee, staged protest in Golaghat on Monday near the Deputy Commissioner’s office against price hike of essential commodities and the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Golaghat. Hundreds of activists of AGP Mahila Parishad shouted various slogans against the BJP government for failing to control price rise of LPG cylinder, petrol and diesel along with the essential commodities. Besides, they strongly opposed the decision of the BJP government to settle illegal Hindu migrants in Assam. The president and secretary of the organization said that the poor people of Assam were suffering a lot due to steep price hike of essential commodities. They slammed the government and said that the BJP government should fulfil its pre-poll promises. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Golaghat Deputy Commissioner.
