Meeting on curbing rumours and superstitions

Tezpur, June 15: “Strong Legal action will be taken against those people who spread rumours and superstitions among the public to curb any incident that can disturb public peace in the district,” said Manoj Kumar Deka, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur while addressing a meeting held at the DC office in the presence of all organizations of Sonitpur and also included journalists of Sonitpur district, ADC and SDC among others.

Deka urged the people of the district not to share or forward any content in the social media that could create rumours or spread communal fire. He further told to inform the police immediately against such incident taking place in the district and instructed the Circle Officers of the district to organize awareness programmes in their respective areas to educate the public not to fall prey to such rumours. He also appealed the local organizations to create awareness among the people and take prompt action if any untoward incident happens.
