Miscreants  cut nets with fingerlings worth lakhs

RANGIA, May 23: Tension prevailed in and around Rangia Balagaon fish market following unidentified miscreants reportedly cutting the nets kept by a number of small fish businessmen of the locality containing fingerlings of 30 trucks worth around Rs 70 lakh-Rs 80 lakh near Balagaon on NH-31 on Tuesday. As a result, subsequently all fingerlings were released to the nearby Borolia river water. The businessmen had been supplying those fingerlings to different places of Assam, besides UP and MP and earning their livelihood. The incident has created panic among people involved in the business from years and they urged for an enquiry into the whole incident. Balagaon on the river bank of Barolia near NH-31 has been turned into a hub of fingerlings supply and is one of the biggest fingerlings market in lower Assam from years.
