More COVID-19 positive cases from Dibrugarh & Jorhat can be expected: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam has a total of five positive cases of coronavirus. But the numbers can go up with more positive cases that can be expected from Dibrugarh & Jorhat, said state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The numbers can even touch double digit, he informed during a press conference.

So far people who have tested positive for coronavirus had all come back to the state after attending the religious gathering at Nizammudin in Delhi.

Sarma mentioned that total of 547 people who attended the function in Delhi were from Assam.

So far 68 people have not returned to the state. 134 have not been suspected prima facie. The remaining number is 347 out of which 230 people have been recognized so far. As of now 196 people’s sample have been collected so far.

He also informed that more than Rs 8 crores has been collected through relief efforts set up for COVID-19 pandemic.
