Plea to make JE Hospital functional

Dibrugarh, May 28: Dibrugarh Press Club submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday, urging him to take steps towards making the existing Japanese Encephalitis Hospital (JEH) in Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) functional. The hospital which was built at an outlay of Rs 10 crore, exclusively for patients infected with the deadly virus, and which was equipped with modern technology and 60 ICU beds, has been lying inoperative for long. The said memorandum came in response to that. The Upper Assam region, in the past, has often had to bear the brunt of Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV).
