Rahul Gandhi Chairs CWC meeting, Discusses Major Issues Related to Assam NRC, Rafale Jet Deal

New Delhi: A high-level Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting today discussed major issues pertaining to Assam NRC and Rafael Jet Deal. The meeting was chaired by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

As per reports, senior congressman and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh briefed the committee about the current economic condition of the country here on Saturday. The meeting attended by Ashok Gehlot and other CWC members.

Ahead of the 2019 elections, the Congress committee discussed some major issues related to the recently published complete draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC), the NRC draft bill and Rafale deal issue and related corruption at length.

Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, following the meeting told the Media that, "Issues of NRC Draft Bill, corruption, bank fraud cases and Rafale deal were discussed in CWC. We also had discussed the issue of rising rate of unemployment in the country. Our preparations for the 2019 elections have also started that will be held across four states."

Sources informed that Sonia Gandhi could not attend the high level CWC meeting because og health related problems.

It may be mentioned that during the previous CWC meet that was held on 22 July last, the Congress party planned its strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The part leadership informed that Congress will fight the 2019 polls under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and is working to set up a group to forge alliances across Indian states.
