Reduce duty hours of gateman: NFRMU

Bongaigaon, June 9: Protesting against few anti-employee policies of the Railway administration, North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union staged demonstration in several places and submitted memorandum on Saturday.

In New Bongaigaon, all four branches of NFRMU, including Bongaigaon, New Bongaigaon Open Line, New Bongaigaon Running and New Bongaigaon Workshop under the leadership of TS Raha, assistant general secretary of NFRMU, staged demonstration in ADEN New Bongaigaon’s office.

Raha said that the main demand was to withdraw removal order of Amin Boro, a track maintainer who had been removed from service for minor fault. “We also demand for stopping outsourcing in railway track patrolling sector which may hamper safety. We also demand to reduce duty hour of gateman from 12 hours per day to 8 hours per day as this is inhuman. We will continue our agitation till our demands were fulfilled,” he said. Several leaders, including Mrinal Seal, MR Nayak Pabitra Barman and Nirmal Chakraborty were present. In Barpeta Road also, both Bongaigaon and Barpeta branches jointly submitted memorandum to ADEN Barpeta where several leaders of the organization, including Phanidhar Das, Kallol Dev Sarma, Dipen Bora, SP Das and Dilip Lav were present. In the same way, memorandum was also submitted in Rangiya, Rangapara and North Lakhimpur.
