Senior BJP leader and former Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley passes away

Senior BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley pass away at an age of 66 on Saturday at AIIMS in Delhi. The veteran politician had been put on life support at the AIIMS hospital and was in a critical condition. Jaitley had been put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which is used for patients whose lungs and heart are incapable of operating on their own. Several political leaders came to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to meet the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leader.

The leader was visited by a number of political leaders ever since he was admitted to the AIIMS. Indian POrime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, and Congress leaders Abhishek Singhvi and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were some of the major leaders who had taken details on his health while he was admitted in the AIIMS.

Born on 28 December 1952, Mr Jaitley was a proficient politician and a successful leader of the nation. he had previously held the cabinet portfolios of Finance, Defence, Corporate Affairs, Commerce and Industry and Law and Justice in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and Narendra Modi government. He was also a senior advocate in the Supreme Court of India and had taken rest from the Modi government in the current term due to his poor health.
