Rangia, May 22: Rangia Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued total 16 girls, out of which nine were minors, within one week. Acting on a tip-off RPF, Rangia rescued six girls, out of them four were minors, from Rangia Railway station platform no. 1 on Monday.

According to H K Sarmah, SI Rangia RPF, a team of RPF comprising Bhaskar Malakar, Dilip Chakraborty and lady constable Seema, conducted a drive at Rangia Railway Station for ensuring safety of women and children. During the drive, they detected six Adivasi girls, out of whom four were minor, sitting near the new foot overbridge at platform no.1 of Rangia Railway Station in a suspicious manner. On being interrogated, they said that they were going to Mumbai for employment, without informing their parents. The police informed their guardians who came and took them away. According to them, they were from Mainajuli Tea Estate near Rangapara under Sonitpur district. They were going to Mumbai to look for jobs. Police rescued them when they were waiting for the Mumbai-bound train at platform number 1.
