Toronto Shooting: Unknown Gunman Kills Two, Leaves 13 Grievously Injured

A young girl and a woman died after a gunman started firing at Toronto’s Greek town district on Sunday. The shooter died in the run riot while exchanging a gunfire with police. A total of 13 people injured in the incident that happened near Danforth and Pape avenues at around 10 PM.

The wounded people were being treated in hospital, and a nine-year-old girl was in a serious state.

“We have been looking for all the positive motives, and not closing any doors,” Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said at the shooting site of Greek Town. He further added that it was too early to provide a cause for the shooting.

A video footage shows a man covering himself in black clothes and a black hat firing three shoots and walking hurriedly from the pavement into a restaurant. According to the witnesses, they heard about 20 shots and the sound of a weapon refilled several times.

Jody Steinhauer, who was out with her family during the firing time at Christina Restaurant on Danforth said to CBC news how she heard people screaming out front. She also mentioned that they were being asked to stay in the restaurant.

This year more than 200 incidents of shooting take place in Canada. The officials are blaming the crime surge on gang violence.

Another witness of the incident John Tulloch said that how they just ran to save their life as soon as the moment they heard about 20 to 30 gunshots.

Toronto Police investigation is underway and they have arranged dozens of additional officers to deal with the contemporary rise in gun violence.
