MANGALDAI, May 18: How inhuman can humans be? In the name of offering financial assistance to the seriously ailing mother of a young girl, two youth tried to take advantage of the girl to satisfy their lust. Mangaldai Police took prompt steps to arrest both the youth on Thursday evening and also unearthed a deep-rooted conspiracy to play with lives of many hapless young girls. Both the arrested youth have been identified as Manab Talukdar, son of Mohan Talukdar of Ganesh Mandir area of Nalbari town, and Jayanta Patgiri, son of Utsav Patgiri of village Khatabari near Nalbari town in Nalabari district. A young girl of Mangaldai town area lodged an FIR in Mangaldai Police Station on Wednesday evening that a youth, during a mobile phone conversation, had assured to offer her an amount of Rs. 70,000 to meet the medical expenditure of her critically ill mother and for this, the youth asked the girl to accompany the youth to Nalbari. The youth also had been sending obscene messages on her phone. Smelling some foul play, the girl, who lost her father few years back, narrated her story to Mangaldai Police. A team of Mangaldai Police led by officer in-charge, Inspector Niranjan Barua on Thursday evening laid a trap and apprehended both the youth at Aulachowka while they were travelling in a share taxi along with the girl. Meanwhile, the police registered a case (No. 369/18 under section 419/363/376/511 of Indian Penal Code).
