Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the Foundation Stone of Karbi & Dimasa Bhawan in Dwarka

New Delhi: The BJP is committed to taking development to North East India said Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan at Dwarka, Sector 13, Plot 11 and 12. The Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan are one of the conditions in the signing of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) by the United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) and Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) respectively. Each project cost Rs. 62 crore.

He said, “The project cost does not matter but the purpose matters that is why I choose to attend. This Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan will expose the culture of the Karbi and Dimsa tribe to the people of India. The BJP is for integrating the nation and we are proud of North East India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid attention to North East India. The region that was formerly known for terrorism and underdevelopment is now known for building roads, railways and other projects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the NE in his mind. During the Congress rule NE stayed backward but the BJP has taken the region towards development. The BJP is implementing development. I urged the minister of DoNER to open a Centre for medicinal plants in NE.

In 5 years Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased the funding of NE to 258% with the 13th and 14th Finance Commission from the previous Congress governments.”

He listed Bamboo Industry Park in Dima Hasao, Government Law College in Diphu, Media Centre in Haflong, etc among the projects being taken up from the Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. He said the BJP is for bringing forward the tribes in India. A strong Assam will contribute to strong Bharat.

Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, speaking on the occasion said, “I thanked the CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang and CEM of NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Garlosa for working hard for the project. Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, “Karbi Anglong, under the 6th scheduled of the constitution of India is the largest district in the state of Assam and the 2nd largest in India with 10,434 sq km in area and with a population of 10 lakh and 65 with is bigger in area to the state of Goa and Sikkim. Autonomous State under Art. 244(A) of the constitution of India, a state under a state will solve the problem. The MoS was signed but remain unimplemented with projects worth Rs. 12,000 crore. I request the state government and the Union Government, it is our request to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to speed up the release of the fund so that the project is implemented in time. MoS. 8 years have passed since the signing the MoS yet the projects remain unimplemented due to the absence of clear cut formula. MoS is above Rs. 12000 crores as per estimate. The state government and departments have their own priorities. I request the honorable Union Home Minister to kindly look into this. The aspiration and the ultimate demand of the people of the hill districts of Assam is the implementation of Art. 244 (A) of the Constitution providing for the creation of an Autonomous State, a state within the state of Assam comprising the hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The MoU and MoS they are stop-gap measurements never intended to resolve the people’s demand of Autonomous State demand. It is my earnest request to initiate tripartite talks with the state government, union government and the districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts be arranged to resolve this issue once and for all. The people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao believe in the dynamic and energetic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji.”
