World Honey Bee Day celebrated

GUWAHATI, May 20: The World Honey Bee Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm at the Mumai Tamuli Barboruah Auditorium, Director of Horticulture & Food Processing Assam, Khanapara in Guwahati on Saturday in collaboration with Salt Range Foods Private Limited, a member of the National bee Board and certified Training Institution on bee keeping under the Agriculture Skill Council of India.

To mark the occasion, a state level seminar was organised for 300 farmers and beekeepers from different parts of the State. Senior officials of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing Assam attended the seminar. Dr B L Sarswat, Executive Director of the National Bee Board, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Govt of India also attended the seminar. During the seminar, Dr B L Sarswat shared the potential of beekeeping in Assam for increasing the income of farmers and also the role of beekeeping in controlling the problem of elephants in the elephant corridors of the state, a press release stated.
