13 candidates from Assam cracked UPSC, Tanmay Vashistha Sharma secured 10th position

Guwahati: In yet another glory to the region, a total of 13 candidates from Assam have cracked the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), 2018 examination, as per the results announcement in the official website https://upsc.gov.in./ of the UPSC around 759 candidates, comprising 577 men and 182 women, have been recommended for appointment to Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group 'A' and Group 'B'.

From Assam, Tanmay Vashistha Sharma had secured 10th position while Mrigank Shekhar Pathak secured 103rd rank.

As per UPSC records, other candidates from Assam are Utirna Ranjita Sarma (130th), Namita Sarma (145), Dipankar Choudhury (166), Garima Sarma (170), Rishabha Garg (200), Aaranyak Saikia (287), Fourman Brahma (429), Abhishek Goswami (525), Tapash Basumatary (645), Sourav Sarma (656) and Deeksha Langthasa secured 708th position.

It to be noted that the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2018 was conducted on June 3, 2018.

A total of 10,65,552 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 4,93,972 candidates actually appeared.

A total of 10,468 candidates qualified for an appearance in the Written (Main) Examination which was held in September – October, 2018. A total of 1994 candidates qualified for the Personality Test conducted in February – March 2019.

A total of 759 candidates, out of which 577 men and 182 women, have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various Services.

Kanishak Kataria has topped the examination. He qualified the examination with Mathematics as his optional subject. He is a B. Tech (Computer Science& Engineering) graduate from IIT, Bombay.

Srushti Jayant Deshmukh is the topper among the women candidates securing an overall 5th rank. She has graduated with B.E. (Chemical Engineering) from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal.
