Amit Shah Hoists Tricolour, Calls 'Har Ghar Tiranga' a Symbol of Unity and Pride

Campaign enters fourth year as lakhs join celebrations across India

NEW DELHI – Union Home Minister Amit Shah hoisted the national flag at his residence on Wednesday, marking the beginning of this year’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He described the initiative as a powerful symbol of unity that “binds the nation in the thread of patriotism”.

The campaign, now in its fourth year, urges every Indian to hoist the Tricolour at home ahead of Independence Day, fostering a deeper connection with the national flag and its symbolism. Over the years, the initiative has seen widespread participation across age groups and communities—both online and offline.

Lakhs Join In Nationwide Celebrations

This year, over five lakh young volunteers have registered to promote the movement across India. Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat earlier urged citizens to participate with “full enthusiasm” and to always uphold the dignity of the national flag.

In a show of collective patriotism, a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally was flagged off on Tuesday from Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, featuring senior government leaders including Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Gajendra Shekhawat, Sanjay Seth, and Delhi BJP Chief Rekha Gupta.

The rally aims to inspire citizens to bring home the Tricolour and proudly fly it in celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day. Thousands are expected to take part in similar rallies and cultural events across states in the coming days.

A National Movement Rooted in Patriotism

Since its inception in 2022, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has evolved into a nationwide movement celebrating unity in diversity. It not only honours the legacy of India's freedom struggle but also encourages citizens to play an active role in shaping the future of a progressive and united India.
