Assam Teachers Oppose SND SPARSH Salary Link, Warn of Statewide Protest

Guwahati: Over 100 teachers affiliated with the Assam State Primary Teachers' Association held a demonstration outside the District Education Officer's office on August 7, protesting against the government's decision to link the salary payment of VO-SRD teachers with the SND SPARSH module.

The teachers said making the digital module compulsory for salary processing could lead to technical and administrative problems, potentially affecting the timely payment of their salaries. They called on the government to withdraw the directive and resolve the issues faced by SRD teachers.

During the hour-long protest, the teachers displayed banners and placards and raised slogans against the state government and the Education Minister. They said their concerns over salary payments and administrative difficulties have remained unresolved despite several representations to the authorities.

The association claimed that SRD teachers have been facing such problems for a long time and that the latest order could further complicate the salary disbursement process.

The protesters warned that they would intensify their movement if the government failed to reconsider the order. Association leaders said a broader statewide agitation could follow, with the protest continuing until their demands are addressed.
