Auto giant Mahindra will launch India's First Electric SUV in 2019

Guwahati: Automobile major Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch India's First Electric SUV in May or June 2019. Managing Director of the firm, Dr. Pawan Goenka had earlier announced that the KUV 100 will go electric and the SUV was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2018.

Mahindra Electric is currently the only automobile manufacturer in India to commercially sell electric cars. Managing Director Dr. Pawan Goenka said that the firm is planning to double its production capacity from 500 to 1000.

The company is waiting for a better ecosystem for electric vehicles in India to start producing 5000 electric vehicles per month. The e-Verito electric sedan is also expected to see a change in the next two years.

The firm is also believed to be working on an all-new electric car, expected to debut in 2020. The company has pioneered the manufacturing of electric cars in India.
