Decomposed Body of Railway Employee recovered in Tinsukia

Tinsukia: A decomposed body of a railway employee has been recovered under mysterious condition at Naupukhuri Raja Ali Railway colony in Tinsukia on Wednesday.

The person identified as Mohan Venkat Rao (38) was reported missing since September 2, 2019.

A missing case was also registered at Tinsukia Police Station in connection to matter by kin of the deceased railway employee.

It is to be noted that the body of the person was recovered in very bad shape and as per preliminary investigation; Tinsukia police is suspecting it to be a case of murder.

Further police investigation is on.

MANGALDAI/TANGLA: Strong sensation prevailed in Rangamati area of Darrang district following the recovery of the decomposed body of 28-year old Junior Engineer Hemanta Mahanta of village Jangalpara of Tangla in Udalguri district.

Hemanta Mahanta, the only son of Mahananda Mahanta, was reported missing since May 16. The previous evening he had gone to his paternal aunt’s house at Rangamati village and on that fateful morning, he went to some astrologer in the nearby area on his motorcycle. His motorcycle was found lying abandoned near the river bank in an isolated place. The police immediately initiated search operation but on Sunday morning his decomposed body was found in River Noa.

The cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Hemanta Mahanta three months back had joined as a Junior Engineer under Udalguri DRDA. Meanwhile, various organizations, including Udalguri west chapter AKRSU, have demanded high-level probe into the matter.
