High Alert at Hojai & Lumding Railway Stations, Security Forces Conduct Search Operations
Lumding/Hojai: Hojai Administration issued High Alert on two railway stations of Assam, as per reports both the Hojai and Lumding railway station to remain on high alert from Tuesday onwards.
Highly placed sources informed that there are reports of some radical organizations who are targeting Hojai and Lumding stations prior to the Modi’s oath-taking ceremony on May 30th.
Sources also informed that, since Tuesday evening, Government Railway Police, Railway Police Force along with bomb squad personnel and CRPF jawans are conducting search operations in both the railway stations.
Although Police sources from the Superintendent of Police office, Hojai informed The Sentinel Digital, The security forces have increased the checking in the suspected areas of Hojai and Lumding on several occasions. “Since the terror cells of Hizbul were active and several Hizbul Mujahideen operatives were arrested last year, therefore, we randomly keep an eye on the suspicious activities and issue High Alert on railway stations of Hojai and Lumding,” said the source from SP office.
It is to be noted that earlier Assam police had police have arrested as many as four Hizbul Mujahideen operatives hailing from Assam in the month of September on 2018.
Following arrest of Assam origin terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman suspected to be a cadre of banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen by Uttar Pradesh police, Assam police arrested Zaman’s close associate Shahnawaz Alam from Hojai in Assam.
Later, Assam police arrested another Hizbul Mujahideen cadre Saidul Alam, a resident of Lanka in Hojai district. Another linkman Umar Faruk was arrested from Byrnihat area at the outskirts of Guwahati. Police also recovered two mobile phones and several contact details were recovered from him.
Faruk and Saidul were produced in a court in Hojai. Police have found there is growing radicalization as two youths in the Hizbul Mujahideen module are from Hojai.
