IAF AN-32 aircraft spotted somewhere near West Siang in Arunachal Pradesh, 6 officials reportedly died

Guwahati: As per highly placed sources, the wreckage of the AN-32 aircraft of Indian Air Force was spotted somewhere near West Siang District in Arunachal Pradesh.

Sources, also mentioned that six officers who were traveling in the AN-32 aircraft had reportedly lost their lives in the plane crash.

Some ground reports were received on the possible location of a crash site. Helicopters were routed to the location, however, no wreckage has been sighted so far. IAF is coordinating with the Indian Army as well as various government and civil agencies to locate the missing aircraft. The search operations from the air and by ground parties of Indian Army are planned to continue through the night.

It is to be noted that no official statement has been released by the Indian Air Force so far in connection to the matter, health conditions of the other 7 onboard crew members have not been ascertained yet.

AN-32 aircraft of Indian Air Force got airborne today from Jorhat at around 12.25 pm for Menchuka Advance Landing Ground on Monday afternoon. As per defense sources, the aircraft last contacted ground agencies at 1 pm, thereafter there has been no contact.

Since the aircraft did not reach the airfield, overdue action was initiated by IAF. A total of eight crew and five passengers were onboard the aircraft. All available resources have been employed to locate the aircraft.

Meanwhile, Indian Air Force (IAF) launched Sukhoi-30 combat aircraft and C-130 special operation aircraft on a search mission for locating the IAF AN-32 aircraft.
