

In the recently held Asia Pacific Masters’ Games at Penang, Malaysia; Assam girl Pokhila Ingtipi outshined winning a much-coveted Bronze medal in the 5000 metres race of the event. With this new achievement, Pokhila now becomes the first girl from Assam to leave a mark in the Athletics category of this competition.
Pokhila, hailing from Diphu, Karbi Anglong had won many other prestigious medals in several other athletics events. In an earlier competition held in April this year, named the 1st National Masters Games at Chandigarh, Pokhila Ingtipi secured a Gold medal in the 1,500-metre race.
The Asia Pacific Masters’ Games 2018 this year is held at Penang Malaysia. The event, to be held for 9 days, has already flagged off on September 7 and will conclude on September 15. The event includes competitions on 22 different categories including archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, cycling, hockey, swimming, squash, tennis, weightlifting, volleyball and many other prominent sports.
