Jhansi, UP: In a chilling turn of events from Jhansi’s Garautha area, a man who had just celebrated Raksha Bandhan with his younger sister is accused of murdering her hours later, allegedly over her relationship with a young man he disapproved of. Police say 18-year-old Kumari Sahodar, also known as Putti, was found dead on Sunday with her head shaved, her body dumped near the Dada Maharaj platform in Chandrapura village.
The accused, Arvind, aged 25, reportedly returned from Pune just days earlier. He is believed to have plotted the killings with his friend, Prakash Prajapati, also 25, both of whom have been detained by police.
This murder follows closely on the heels of the killing of Vishal, Putti’s 19-year-old lover from Lahchura, whose body was found in Gudha village on 7 August. The police say Arvind lured Vishal under the guise of offering him a job and then killed him, allegedly with Prakash's help.
Putti and Vishal had run away together four months ago but were convinced to return after a mutual settlement between families. Despite the agreement, the couple had continued to meet secretly — something Arvind reportedly could not accept.
While investigations into Vishal’s murder were still underway, Arvind allegedly took his sister out on Saturday on the pretext of buying medicine and killed her too.
Police have registered cases in both murders, and further investigation is ongoing. The incident has left the local community in shock, casting a dark shadow over what is traditionally a festival of love and protection between siblings.
