

Guwahati: A suspected sex racket was busted in Assam’s Jorhat district on Friday, with four people detained from a house in Rodali Path, Bohotia Gaon, following complaints from local residents. As per reports, residents noticed suspicious activities at the house and confronted people present at the premises. The locals subsequently surrounded the house and alerted the police.
A police team soon arrived at the location and detained four individuals, including three women and a man, for questioning. Several other men and women reportedly managed to flee the premises before the police reached the spot.
The detained people were taken into custody as police began examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged operation. Police are now investigating whether the location was being used as part of an organised prostitution racket.
Police are also examining the possibility of a wider human trafficking network operating in the area and are gathering information to determine whether other individuals were involved.
Further investigation is underway, and police are expected to question the detained people s and other witnesses as part of the probe. Officials are also assessing the evidence gathered from the site before deciding on further legal action.
