PM defends anti-terror strike, says India won’t spare enemies — ‘even in pataal lok’

Varanasi: In a fiery address from his home turf of Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a blistering attack on the Congress and its allies for allegedly mocking the success of Operation Sindoor, a recent anti-terror operation carried out by Indian forces.

Modi accused the Opposition of “insulting the valour” of Indian soldiers, claiming Congress had dismissed the operation as a “tamasha” (spectacle). “When there is injustice and terror before us, Mahadev adorns his Rudra roop. The world saw this face of India during Operation Sindoor.

‘Congress, SP siding with terrorists’

The Prime Minister didn’t hold back, further accusing the Congress and Samajwadi Party of sympathising with terrorists. “Pakistan is crying, and here, Congress and SP are crying too — over the condition of terrorists. These are the same people who once gave clean chits to terrorists while in power,” he said.

Defending the timing and decisiveness of the strike, Modi took aim at critics questioning the choice of date. “Should we call and ask the terrorists when to act? Should we let them escape?” he asked rhetorically.

He also dismissed criticism over the name Operation Sindoor, saying it symbolised strength and sacrifice. The comments come amid a deepening political row over the operation, with the BJP framing it as a symbol of India's uncompromising stance against terrorism — and the Opposition accused of playing politics at the cost of national security.
