Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday accused the Tipra Motha Party of indulging in violence out of “frustration” over declining public support, and said the party was behaving like an opposition despite being part of the state government.
Addressing an election rally in support of BJP candidate Sanjib Reang in the Birchandranagar-Kalsi constituency, Saha said people have understood the ground reality and expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming ADC polls.
"People are now aware of the reality and asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to the genuine development of tribal communities, expressing confidence that the party will secure victory in the upcoming ADC elections," he added.
The Chief Minister alleged that the Tipra Motha leaders were creating unrest while claiming to stand for peace. According to him, there was a clear gap between their statements and actions, and the public had begun to see through it.
Saha claimed that the BJP remains committed to the development of tribal communities and maintaining peace in the state.
The Chief Minister also referred to the alliance between the BJP, Tipra Motha and the IPFT, but claimed that attacks on BJP workers had continued over the years.
"The party would not tolerate such incidents and would respond through legal means," he added.
Saha also said Tripura has seen a return to peace since 2018 and is now witnessing development, adding, "The funds allocated for ADC areas must be used properly and warned against irregularities".
Several BJP leaders, including state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharya, were present at the rally.
