US Bank Shooting : Indian Youth Pruthviraj Kandepi Among 3 Killed

Ohio/New Delhi: Pruthviraj Kandepi from Andhra Pradesh in India was among the three killed during a shooting in a US State bank at Ohio.

Pruthviraj Kandepi who was working as a consultant with the bank died when a gunman opened fire in the bank on Thursday. The other two killed are Luis Felipe Calderon (48) and Richard Newcomer (64). The miscreant has been identified as Omar Perez (29) who was later gunned down by the police.

Five other people were also injured in the incident. The incident took place early on Thursday morning at the headquarters for the Fifth Third Bank near Fountain Square, Cincinnati.

Kandepi hails from Tenali town of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. His family is in a state of shock after they heard about the incident over the phone. Officials of Indian consulate are in touch with the Kandepi family

The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) was making arrangements to send the body home.

This is the second incident within a year which involved an Indian being shot dead in the US

In another incident in July, one Sharat Koppu from Telangana was shot dead at a Kansas City restaurant. In 2017, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, a techie from Hyderabad was killed in a racist attack at a bar in Kansas State.
