Bibha Saikia - A tribute

Our beloved grandmother Bibha Saikia passed away in her sleep peacefully on May 22 at Beltola, Guwahati. She was 82. Her family will miss her dearly as we all cope to recover from this loss together. She was married to Late Sjt. Bhola Nath Saikia who was the founder director of APRO. She is survived by a son, two daughters-in-law, a daughter, a son-in-law, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Born to Dr Lalit Bora and Tarini Bora, in Dimapur, Bibha Saikia was fondly called Makhani by her dear ones. They were seven siblings that included five sisters and two brothers. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.

She was the heart of the Saikia clan. She was a meticulous home maker, had an eye for detail and was a perfectionist to her fingertips. She taught us the importance of being organised and stressed on being deeply involved at everything we do. She was an active member of ICCW and Ladies and Recreation Centre, Guwahati. She was a regular at Rukmini Nagar Naam Ghor and had immense faith in the almighty. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends ensured that she had a happy, peaceful life and an uncomplicated demise. Aita Ma possessed a contagious smile that will guide us as we muddle through this difficult phase. Her memories will be our greatest treasure.
