New Delhi: The Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Wednesday after snapping two days of gains.

The Nifty was down 57.40 points or 0.31 percent at 18211, while on the other hand the Sensex was down 206.93 points or 0.34 percent at 61143.33.

Nearly, 1378 shares declined, while about 1672 shares advanced and 109 were remained at their position.

On the Sensex, Bajaj finance, Axis Bank and RIL fell the most, while 23 Nifty stocks gained and 27 declined.

Shares of companies like Infosys, Cipla, Asian Paints, Divis Labs and UPL jumped the most on Nifty, while Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, ONGC, and Bajaj Finserv fell.

However, when the market opened today, the Indian equity benchmarks sensex and Nifty witnessed gain in early trade as on Wednesday, the sensex index traded 54.7 points or 0.1 percent higher at 61,405 and the broader Nifty50 benchmark was up 23 points or 0.1 percent at 18,291.4 in early deals.

The 30-scrip index began the day up 149 points at 61,499.7, and the Nifty50 at 18,295.8, up 27.4 points from its previous close.
