Indian-American Arvind Krishna will take over as CEO of IBM

New York: Indian-American Arvind Krishna will take over as the CEO of IBM – the world’s oldest technology company that began operations in 1911 – as long-serving Virginia ‘Ginni’ Rometty has decided to retire, the company announced on Friday. Currently working as IBM’s Senior Vice President for Cloud and Cognitive Software and touted as the principal architect of the company’s $34 billion acquisition of open-source software giant Red Hat, Krishna will also be a member of the Board of Directors, effective from April 6. “Arvind is the right CEO for the next era at IBM. He is a brilliant technologist who has played a significant role in developing our key technologies such as AI, cloud, quantum computing, and blockchain,” said Rometty. (IANS)
