New Delhi: The Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index (TAIEX) which is also known as TWII or the Taiwan Weighted is an index tracking all common stocks which trade on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

The index uses the Taiwan dollar as its currency and the index is weighted for market capitalization.

Those who follow Asian markets, they will be aware of the TWII as it's one of five indices in Taiwan and is considered a major index.

Since, it's a weighted index, the TAIEX values larger constituent companies above the rest. Though it had broken the 10,000 level in three separate years but at the same time it fallen back quickly. TAIEX was published in 1967 with a base of 100.

If we look at its performance in the previous years, TAIEX increased 14 points or 0.13 percent to 10458 in July 2017 from 10444 in the previous trading session. However, the Taiwan Stock Market (TWSE) managed to reach an all time high of 10513.96 in June of 2017 and a record low of 3446.26 in October of 2001.

Sanyo and Acer are the major companies listed on the index.

Taiwan stock market today

The Taiwan Stock Market opened on Wednesday at 17,680.16 and while on the other hand, it was closed at 17,666.12 on previous day.
