Body of drowned victim recovered from Dholeswari river in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: The body of a teenaged girl was fished out from the Dholeswari river here on Sunday. The victim identified as Soma Das, daughter of Bipul Das, a resident of Gharmura village under Ramnathpur Police Station, was aged 13. Soma had gone out with her mother and sister to fetch water from the Dholeswari river when tragedy struck on Saturday. Following a frantic call of drowning at around 2:26 pm on Saturday, Hailakandi Fire and Emergency Services Station rushed to Garmura near forest office. SDRF personnel and fire fighters rushed to the spot. Deep divers from Silchar also joined in. Search teams called off the efforts in the evening because of fading light. The search operation was resumed on Sunday morning leading to the recovery of the body. SO, F&ESS, Hailakandi, Albert I Khobung informed that the body of the drowned victim has been sent to the SK Roy Civil Hospital for post mortem.
