

SILCHAR: Panchayat and Rural Development department of Cachar in collaboration with Public Health Engineering and Divisional Forest office (social forestry), Cachar ceremonially launched the clean and green village campaign in seven selected villages of Cachar on Thursday, stated a press release.
The programme started with awareness meeting followed by awareness rally and plantation drive. Saplings of many different species were distributed among the participants of the programme. It is pertinent to mention here that this programme was undertaken to highlight the importance of clean and green environment and to protect, preserve and promote the nature.
This project also aims at creating mass awareness among the villagers about the environmental pollution. Silchar legislator Dilip Paul graced the programme as chief guest held at Kalinjar revenue village which falls under Silchar development block while Mihirkanti Shome, legislator from Udharbond and Rasaraj Das, incharge PD of DRDA attended the programme held at Kanpur revenue village.
Borkhola MLA Kishore Nath launched the awareness campaign at Gangapur revenue village under Borkhola development block and Amar Chand Jain, legislator from Katigorah attended the programme held at Tokergram revenue village.
