Contraband Seized, 2 Arrested By Jirighat Police

SILCHAR: SDPO Anurag Sharma and Manoj Rajbangshi, officer-in-charge, Jirighat police station while patrolling NH-37 on Friday, arrested one Hanbey Simsang (42) and recovered 88 grams of heroin and 165 grams of brown sugar. The total market value of both the items will be around Rs 8 lakh. Hanbey along with his accomplice was coming on a motorcycle when they were asked to stop. Though the other one fled, the police could arrest Hanbey.

In this connection, police arrested one Bappan Das alias Binoy Prasad Das (27), resident of Kalaphool, near Binnakandi. He was there to receive these contraband goods from Hanbey and his accomplice. Both Hanbey and Binoy were produced before the SDJM court, Lakhipur on Saturday.
