SBBDC demands bridge at Silghat, submits memo to CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Silchar: Silghat Barak Bridge Demand Committee (SBBDC) has been requesting the authorities and departments concerned to sanction a bridge over river Barak at Silghat in the district of Cachar.

Despite numerous representations, no concrete step has been taken in this regard. Finding no other alternative, the committee recently wrote to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and explained in details the need of a bridge at Silghat. South Barak is isolated and needs immediate attention as its all-round development is stalled. The demand committee had earlier also submitted a representation. The committee is however hopeful that this time a radical change will take place.

The copy of the representation which has been signed by Hanif Alom Mazumder, chief convener, Silghat Barak Demand Committee, has been also sent to Nitin Gadkari, Minister, Road, Transport and Highways, Sushmita Dev, MP, Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister, Fisheries, Forest, Excise etc, MLAs Rajdeep Goala, Aminul Haque Laskar, Mihir Kanti Shome, the Commissioner and Secretary, PWD Rural road, government of Assam, the Chief Engineer (Bridge), Assam, the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, the Executive Engineer, PWD (Rural roads), Silchar division and the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Lakhimpur subdivision.
