10 amendment Bills tabled on first day of winter session of Assam Legislative Assembly

GUWAHATI: On the first day of the winter session of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) today, the government tabled 10 amendment Bills. These are – the Minimum Wages (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Plantations Labour (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Industrial Disputes (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Beedi and Cigar Workers (Conditions of Employment) (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Inter-State Migrant Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Services) (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Equal Remuneration (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Service) (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022; and the Payment of Gratuity (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2022.

In addition, State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog tabled five Extraordinary Gazette Notifications of the Finance (Taxation) Department, Government of Assam. State Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa tabled four Gazette Notifications of the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission under the Department of Power. State Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal tabled eight Gazette Notifications of the Housing and Urban Affairs Department. State Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass tabled a Gazette Notification of the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

Besides these, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled the Annual Report of the Assam Information Commission for the financial year 2021-22. State Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa tabled the Annual Report of the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. for the financial year 2020-21; the Annual Report of the Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd. for the financial year 2020-21; and the Annual Report of the Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd. for the financial year 2020-21.

The Assam Assembly Speaker tabled the report of the study visit of the ALA delegation to Maldives from october 22 to October 25, 2022; and the report of the study visit of the ALA delegation to Tripura and Bangladesh from November 18 to November 25, 2022.

Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, ALA, Wazed Ali Choudhury presented the 176th, 177th and 178th reports of the Committee. Chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings, ALA, Ramendra Narayan Kalita .presented the 72nd, 73rd, 74th and 75th reports of the Committee. Committee on Welfare of Women and Children, ALA, Suman Haripriya presented the 10th report of the Committee.
