GUWAHATI: The Cultural Affairs Minister, Bimal Borah, announced the recipients of the Bishnu Rabha and various other awards on Friday. A total of six awards will be presented: three state and three national. Two people have been nominated for the Bishnu Rabha award for the year 2023, namely, eminent artist Ajit Seal and artist Gopal Krishna Goswami. Arup Kumar Dutta, a prominent writer and journalist, is nominated for the Sri Sri Madhavdev Award 2022.
The late Bhaskar Kalita is being nominated for the Bir Chilarai Award in 2022. Dr. Tiatoshi Jamir is nominated for the Kalicharan Brahma Award in 2023. Nakul Das is being nominated for the Sonitkonwar Gajen Baruah Award 2023; eminent scientist Dr. Jayanti Chutia is being nominated for the Sati Sadhini Award 2023; and Boloram Phangsok is being nominated for the Sorgodeo Sarbananda Singha Award 2023.
Bora said that this year Bishnu Rabha Diwas will be observed centrally at Dhubri, where all these nominees will be awarded by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
