ABMSU president's murder case: CBI discloses names of accused

GUWAHATI: After four years of the murder of ABMSU (All BTC Minority Students' Union) president Lafiqul Islam, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has disclosed the names of three persons in connection to the case.

The accused are – Rupa Brahm alias Kejeng Brahma, Ramesh Brahma from Bhalukmari Village, Bhadreswar Basumatary alias Bhadre from Kathalmuri Village, and Dingkur Mushahary alias Dao from 1 Pabuajhora Village in Kokrajhar district.

The CBI has announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of each of the accused.

It is to be noted that Islam was killed by two miscreants on August 1, 2017.

ABMSU general secretary Taison Hussain said that the body is hopeful that late Islam will get justice.

"We demand the CBI disclose the motive behind the murder of late Islam. The accused should be arrested at the earliest," Hussain added.
