Action Taken By Legal Metrology Department Against Unscrupulous Traders

GUWAHATI: Under an inspection carried out by a team of Legal Metrology department on Thursday, to check the inconsistencies in the retail and wholesale prices of potato and onion in the market, a case was registered against the unscrupulous traders. Visiting the major markets of the city, it was discovered that retail prices of potatoes amounted to Rs 14 - 20 per kg, while the wholesale price was found to be Rs 1000/- to 1500/- per quintal. Onions were priced at Rs 18 to 22 per kg, while the wholesale price was found to be Rs 1200 to 1700 per quintal. The traders have been directed to clearly display the prices of groceries on boards in their shops.
