All Assam Fair Price Shop dealers may not lift goods from March

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association (AAFPSDA) on Friday said that it will stop lifting and distribution commodities from March onwards if the authority fails to resolve their issues.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Friday the AAFPSDA alleged that the fair price shop dealers have not received commissions for the last seven months. The AAFPSA further claimed that the State government is not following the Act enacted by the Central government.

AAFPSA president Dharanidhar Borah said, “The Central government fixed Rs. 143 against distributing one quintal rice for the fair price dealers. However, the State government doesn’t follow it. Hence, by deducting Rs. 42.90 per quintal the State government has been providing Rs. 100.10 instead of Rs. 143 per quintal. Thus the State government has all along been neglecting the fair price dealers”. Besides not receiving the actual amount of the commission, the irregularities in providing commission also add to their problem. The fair price dealers also claimed that there have been irregularities till June 2019 and for last seven months they are not receiving any commission.

As claimed by All Assam Fair Price Shop Dealers’ Association president, neither the consumers nor the shopkeepers have received the food grains allotted for the APL people that was allotted way back in 2016. Borah questioned, “Where has the allotment been utilized as we’ve not received it for a single month since its allotment?”
