GUWAHATI: The All Assam NSQF Vocational Teachers' Association (under third party) has demanded the government to regularize their salaries and provide job security.

The NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework) Assam was started in the year 2015 to provide vocational education to enhance the livelihood opportunities of young students studying in high and higher secondary schools of Assam.

The Association underlined that around 900 NSQF vocational teachers who are under third party on contractual basis are being deprived of their salaries and other benefits as compared to other State NSQF vocational teachers.

It stated that when the project was started in Assam, around 101 high and higher secondary school teachers were recruited directly by Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Assam in 2015. But since 2016 onwards, NSQF vocational teachers/trainers recruitment process has been handed over to private organizations that are entitled to look after all the process including salary and all the related matters.

"The private companies which are entitled to manage all the process of vocational teachers/trainers have miserably failed on their part. There have been delays in the payments of our salaries and presently we are not yet paid salaries for the last four months. Moreover, expenses connected with lab maintenance are not paid for the year 2019," stated the Association.

Along with regularized salaries and job security, the Association demanded equal scale of salary to all vocational trainers/teachers, direct appointment from government with essential facilities, yearly increment and actual guest lecture cost, actual industrial visit cost etc.

"Before 2016, NSQF vocational teachers were recruited directly through RMSA for the same position then why third parties are hired to recruit the vocational teachers from 2016. The third party has completely failed to maintain all the process including salary. Our job is not secure, our contract renews in three to six months every year. So, how can we perform our tasks in this insecure environment?" the Association stated.
