GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has raised a strong objection to the appointment of candidates from outside Assam as school teachers in the State.
Chief Advisor of AASU Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharjya said in a tweet in Assamese that the State Government has recently appointed candidates from North-Indian States as teachers in some primary schools of Assam. Bhattacharjya asked as to how a person who does not know the Assamese language can teach in Assamese-medium schools.
Bhattacharjya termed the action as "unjust" and asked the State Government to reconsider the matter and instead appoint local candidates in these posts.
