All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) Celebrates Mukoli Bihu

GUWAHATI: The All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU), like every other year, celebrated Mukoli Bihu at Judges’ Field in Guwahati on April 14 with pomp and gaiety as the celebration is traditionally associated with.

While the Bihu flag was hoisted by noted artiste Kula Baruah, the AASU’s (All Assam Students’ Union) flag was unfurled by its president Dipanko Kumar Nath, the programme for paying tributes to the martyrs was inaugurated by AASU’s general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi. The students of Handique Girls’ College sang a chorus to give the occasion its musical touch.

Various artistes, writers, sportspersons, noted personalities and many others were present on the occasion. A number of personalities who brought laurels to the State, including Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika (his family members); Padmashri Dr. Illius Ali and Uddhab Bharali; Sangeet Natak Akademi Award winners Jagannath Bayon, Nuruddin Ahmed and Ramkrishna Talukdar; Sahitya Akadmei Award winners Sananta Tanti, Loknath Upadhay Chapagain, Rituraj Basumatary, Nabin Brahma, Partha Pratim Hazarika, Jugal Lochan Das and Sitaram Basumatary; Sahitya Akademi Yuva Awardees Purna Brahma and Bipasha Bora; Arjun Award winner Hima Das and cinema director Rima Das were felicitated at the function by AASU adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya.

Bihu Husori, Ojhapali, Bodo dance, etc mesmerized the gathering.

There was a special tribute – Dipali Baideuloi Ekajali Shraddhanjali – though music. Singer Tarali Sarma, Jublee and Barnali Kalita sang an evergreen song each of the late singer.
