GUWAHATI: On the eve of the 75th year of Independence, the AICC (All India Congress Committee) along with its State branches observed the 'Swahid Sanman Divas' on Saturday. On this day, solidarity and gratitude are expressed to the freedom fighters and their families for their contribution and ultimate sacrifice to the country's freedom movement from the foreign yoke.

On this occasion, members of the APCC ( Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) and the Guwahati City of DCC (District Congress Committee) visited the families of freedom fighters in Guwahati. A delegation of the party visited freedom fighter Jatin Goswami and his family at his house at Karnachal on the Nabagraha Hill Side. Freedom Fighter Jatin Goswami is 96 years old and lives with his wife and sons in Karnachal. The delegation members felicitated him with the traditional Assamese 'phulam gamosa', a Xarai and a bouquet of flowers. They also visited the family members of Swahid Kushal Konwar at Rupnagar.
