GUWAHATI: The Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Assam, released funds ranging from Rs 10,000-Rs 1 lakh to each of 4,352 secondary and senior secondary schools of the state for fiscal 2021-22.
The amount of this annual grant to the School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) of government/provincialized secondary and higher secondary schools, including junior colleges, for fiscal 2021-22 is based on the enrollment of students.
The break-up of the grants is – a school with an enrollment of up to 30 students will get Rs 10,000; a school with an enrolment of 31-100 students will get Rs 25,000; a school with an enrolment of 101-250 will get Rs 50,000; a school with an enrolment of 251-1,000 will get Rs 75,000 and schools with over 1,000 students will get Rs 1 lakh.
The RMSA released the funds for the smooth functioning of the schools, to meet their daily expenses and to ensure a decent and pleasant condition.
The RMSA also spelt out the break-up of the expenditure – 10 per cent on the Swachchata Action Plan. The other expenses are electricity bills, telephone charges, internet charges, creating a digital learning platform in classrooms, replacing non-functional school equipment, electrification of toilets and drinking water, renovating school buildings, developing the playground, boundary walls etc.
The SMDCs will utilize the amount properly and submit a utilization certificate countersigned by a third party, preferably by the Revenue Circle Officer concerned or a person appointed by him. Misappropriation of funds or any other financial irregularities will invite criminal proceedings, the RMSA said.
