Another accused arrested in SI recruitment examination scam

GUWAHATI: A CID (Criminal Investigation Department) team along with the Sualikuchi Police arrested another accused in the SI recruitment examination scam namely Kumud Kalita from Bamundi village on Friday.

According to reports, Kalita is a middleman of the scam.

With his, total arrest in connection with the case stands at 24.

Meanwhile,the Gauhati High Court (GHC) on Friday rejected the bail plea of five accused in the SI recruitment examination scam.

The one judge bench of Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan has rejected the bail plea of Sandeep Sarma, Kushal Das, Devraj Das, Tarinikanta Banikya and Ankujit Baruah.

All the five were arrested by the CID and the Crime Branch.

According to reports, crores of rupees were seized from the house of Tarinikanta Banikya.

The written examination to recruit the sub-inspectors was cancelled after the question paper was leaked. It is scheduled to be held on November 22.
