Anti-Army slogans by youths: Congress moves DGP Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has submitted a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP), Assam urging his intervention in an incident where Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) general secretary Rakesh Das and a few other Bharatiya Janta Party workers (BJP) allegedly shouted slogans against the Indian Army.

In the letter, APCC secretary Daiyan Hussain has mentioned that, "On June 18, through various electronic media and other social media platforms, it has come to my knowledge that Rakesh Das and some other BJP workers have shouted slogans against our respected and beloved Indian Army at Ulubari, Guwahati saying "Indian Army Go Back." At the time when the whole nation is backing and supporting the Indian Army, this kind of heinous incident done by the BJP and it's sister organization is not acceptable. It has been done maliciously to demoralize the Indian Army with a political intention."

APCC requested the DGP to investigate the matter as per law and arrest the wrongdoers including Das and other BJP supporters who raised slogans against the Indian Army with 'ulterior motive.'
