GUWAHATI: The Legal Department of APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has demanded the Chief Election Officer (CEO), Assam to take action against Media Adviser of the Chief Minister of Assam, Hrishikesh Goswami for participating in election campaigns of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) inspite of being a government officer.

The APCC alleged that Goswami has violated the guidelines framed by the Election Commission of India for the 'Conducts of Government Servants'.

"It is unfortunate that Goswami without giving resignation from the post of the Media Adviser to the Chief Minister of Assam has been actively participating in the campaigning programmes of the BJP which is clearly a misconduct as well as corrupt practice by him and the ruling party," stated a memorandum submitted by the APCC Legal Department to the CEO.

The APCC has requested CEO Nitin Khade to restrain Goswami from participating in any campaigning programmes of the BJP or to remove him from the post of Media Adviser to the Chief Minister of Assam with immediate effect.
