Arya Vidyapith College students urge to instill speed breakers

GUWAHATI: Arya Vidyapith College has called for urgent action to instill speed breakers on the roads near their college premises in order to prevent accidents or road mishaps. The student union at the college has expressed deep concerns over the matter. The student union has addressed the matter to the District Commissioner Kamrup (M) district to look into the matter.

According to one of the students, "We are deeply concerned over this matter. Though there have been a number of road repairs undertaken, there has been no step taken for the instillation of speed breakers. As there are no speed breakers, there have been a huge number of accidents taking place."

Another one said, "Due to the speeding of vehicles, there have been a number of accidents taking place near our premises, and this has caused problems not only for commuters but also raised safety concerns for the faculty, students, and others. That is the reason we are urging the DC to take necessary actions regarding the installation of speed breakers near our premises."

"The DC has assured that he will look into the matter, will take proactive steps, and will make sure it is done urgently," the student union added.
